It gives me great pleasure to be able to finally announce the election date as well as the date of the handing over ceremony of the BAASA Executive. Both these events will happen on the same day.
We cordially invite all Bhutanese to vote if not at least observe the elections of the BAASA Executive. We extend our special invitation to the outgoing BAASA Committee to grace the ceremony and successfully hand over accounts and responsibilities.
We would also like to invite non-members or newly arrived families to come and see what we do.
But please note that only Bhutanese community members:-
a. who were members during the term of the former BAASA Executive under the chairpersonship of Mr. Suren Ghaley; or
b. who obtained membership by the 9 January 2014
are eligible to vote. This rule is necessary because it helps to run an impartial and democratic election process. No sensible election process allows voter/member registration on the date of election.
Hence we will be using BAASA member’s register to confirm your details on site.
The two candidates who are contesting this election for the ONE remaining place in the BAASA Executive Committee- in alphabetical order are:
1. Lal Bdr Rai
2. Laxmi Dahal
The other four individuals have already secured their places in the Executive as their candidacy was uncontested through the first and second notices for election.
